Manufacture Century Celebrates 60 Years of Family Audacity and Excellence
Sixty years. One family. One material that yields to nothing but diamond. In 2026, Century celebrates 60 years of independent watchmaking, and the Maison marks the jubilee with five exceptional creations.
Century Celebrates 60 Years of Family Audacity
Hans-Ulrich Klingenberg founded the Maison in 1966 with one conviction: time deserved a material worthy of its mystery. He chose sapphire. Ranking 9 on the Mohs scale, it stands second only to diamond, and it never ages. Philip W.A. Klingenberg has carried that conviction since 1993, and a third generation now works alongside him. Independence, here, is a working method rather than a claim.
The manufacture borrows its cuts from high jewelry: marquise, brilliant, navette, rose, emerald. Artisans in Nidau then shape each facet by hand, one at a time. Each cut returns a different play of refraction and chromatic shade. Moreover, the Megalith system fuses sapphire discs into a single inseparable block, which turns the case into a sculptural monolith.
Five Creations for the Jubilee
- Tiara opens the celebration in six examples only, with 292 diamonds across its dial and a halo of 62 multicoloured gemstones.
- Midnight Sun, meanwhile, marks thirty years of its own through 192 facets across 24 mm.
- Elegance Moon Phase Hokusai then carries the ocean onto deep blue mother-of-pearl, beneath a moon phase and inside 48 hand-cut facets.
- Dragon Stone extends its steel chapter with fresh dials, now also without diamond setting.
- Mastersphere, finally, seals its high-frequency movement in an absolute vacuum behind 24 right-angled facets.
Sixty years have refined these gestures, yet nothing has replaced them. As Century celebrates 60 years, that patience remains the signature.
